Inspired by the simple forms of JB Blunk and similar bohemian carpenter-designers, the Misterioso Table is a study in the rhythm of form as dictated by the natural material and the tools used. Those being mostly plane and spokeshave. The piece was designed while listening to Thelonious Monk's seminal album 'Misterioso.'
On the island of Maui there is a stretch of coast that is as isolated and remote as it is surpassingly beautiful. This area, on the island’s east side, is home to a small community of hearty, back to the land types, many of whom grow their own food and built their own homes. As a result, there is a certain organic aesthetic to the architecture that we find very charming. The Hana dining chair, with its hand shaped spindles and seat, is a nod to this rugged ethos; hand made as a way of life.

In the 18th century a profound design movement took place in Wales; it was led by peasant carpenters who-simply in an effort to create a practical seating option-produced one of the most elegant, modern chairs of that time. It is known as the 'Welsh Stick Chair' and it's makers are thought to be the forefathers of the Shakers.
